Farmers Markets are Here!

(Alright, so the markets have actually been open for a couple weeks, but my camera was holding my pictures hostage, so here they are now.)

There are all sorts of good things about living in the city, however, easily growing a garden isn't exactly one of them. Happily, we city folk are not completely consigned to paying the big bucks at Whole Foods to get our hands on fresh food; we have Farmers Markets! Back on May 14th the markets first opened for the season.

It's still early so there hasn't been tons and tons, mostly tomatoes, asparagus, dried fruit and starter plants. I don't have any dirt to plant things in, so while I look at the starter plants and think how much fun I could have, I mostly visit the markets for the tomatoes.
That first week I was also on a quest for cheese curds (for some reason they're harder to come by here than in Wisconsin). However, by the time I got to the market that day (over my lunch hour) they were already sold out.

Last week I tried again, but they didn't have any then either.

This week I got smart and went before work and they DID have cheese curds. Yay!! Also, I got a beautiful tomato.

It was a good morning :)
