The Field Museum is such a beautiful building! I always enjoy walking through, especially the Great Hall.
In addition to the dinosaurs, there are all sorts of other natural history exhibits. This time, Townshend was wanting to go see a few things we'd missed the last time we visited, before we went to see the dinosaurs. Coming in was kinda foggy, but that's always makes it lovely.. as we passed Buckingham Fountain it was in its high spray, which the boys thoughts was cool:
First, we visited the underground bug exhibit where we were "shrunk down" to about the size of a penny. This was where Townshend wanted to go first, but we'd gotten there pretty close to opening time and so we were the only ones in that exhibit and all the creepy lighting and "underground" sounds was a little too much excitement for either of the boys, so we went through pretty quickly.
We saw bits of Egypt:
Wandered through New Zealand and a Maori meeting house:
Went for a nature walk (and sized up a crocodile):
Visited the Discovery Lab:
And, of course, the dinosaurs:
It's been a good summer. It seems crazy that it's already done, but here we are. Now, onto the Autumn and school and all the other things that the end of the year brings.
