Gardening Again!

Last year, outside on my little deck, I planted some flowers as well as a tomato. It actually went pretty well! I got several delicious tomatoes and the flowers seemed to survive the summer with their petals intact.. so I figured I'd do it again this year.

Last year was the first time I'd planted anything ever and, in retrospect, there was definitely room for improvement. So this time around, before starting, I did some researching and sight-seeing to gather ideas for my planters this year.

Next came the day of plant-getting (which, of course, just happened to be the day after washing my car), and I loaded it up with supplies for beautifying my deck (happily I made it home without any colossal spills):
they look so green and healthy! (may it always be so) :)

Then came the joy of playing in dirt and ending with wonderful results! These two little planters bring me much happiness (i know, it doesn't take much to amuse me)..

In addition to the flowers, I also got a tomato and stuck it right next to my basil. Since I started a little late this year, I made sure to find a tomato plant that had a bud growing already. If everything goes according to plan, before too long, I should be munching on fresh tomatoes!

Since planting them, I may or may not have found myself periodically peeking out my window to survey the little spot of green growing over my alley. I love it!

Turns out, I'm so inefficient this year that that's exactly what happened: we have Monkeys (preexisting) strawberries that, along with the goldenrod, have completely overrun the garden, and we have a pair of tomatoes in buckets, and a basil in an actual, factual pot. And that's the extent of the garden this year. Of course, given the crummy weather we're "enjoying," I'm not sure we could keep much more than that alive!
