You Know Life is Quiet When You're Blogging about Veggies...

My husband and I rarely agree on which vegetables should and should not be eaten. For the most part, we both agree that salad is good, but deviating from that one, safe suggestion, we have equal and opposite reactions to veggies:
He says, "Yum! Peas!" (I shudder)
I say, "Hooray for Broccoli!" (He grimaces)
He says, "Alright! Corn on the Cob!" (My nose wrinkles)
I say, "MMmmm.. Cauliflower!" (He throws up a little in his mouth)
I suppose, in planning meals, I could just leave the dinner vegetable at salad... But I don't.
Nope, I'd rather experiment. Test new things. Push the boundaries of what should and should not be eaten.

Turns out we both agree that cooked carrots (like these) are pretty yummy!

Also, I've discovered that (if mixed with enough other veggies and tomato sauce and hidden under a generous layer of potatoes, as in Shepherd's Pie) corn, and even peas, aren't so bad!

You can also hide all sorts of undesirables in soup; celery... even cauliflower.
"just TRY and sneak me into your dinner"

Recently, to dress up the veggies, I tried out a new kind of soup.
Take a little of this and that:

Mmmmm... natural goodness

**Sneaky Tip: If you smash up the cauliflower and
add garlic and butter, it'll hide in your food better

Veggies boiled 'til "just tender" taste better
when you add some chicken-tomato bouillon

And you get an end result that everybody loves!

Oh my gosh! I think I laughed for a good two minutes from this post you wrote. You guys are freakin' hilarious. I especially liked the part about your husband throwing up a little in his mouth. Around here, we like to call that a "thurp"...you know, for a throw-up burp. I love reading your blog. You always make me smile. :)
