Date Night

As a proponent of Halloween (and playing dress-up in general), I've long thought it would be a fun date idea to get dressed up in crazy clothes and go out for dinner in a public place. Just for giggles.. and to see what sort of reaction it might elicit.

Luckily for me, and my goofy ideas, I'm married to a fabulous guy.. (who happens to also be a bit of a ham) who happily embraced this crazy idea of mine, and so we made plans to make this scheme a reality.

One week, for FHE, we found a thrift store and began our search for the craziest clothes we could find:

Our booty:
two full outfits (with head gear) for less than $20.. hooray for thrift stores!!

Next, we had to decide where to make our public appearance. We wanted a sit-down sort of restaurant.. but not one so swanky that they would prevent our eating there for our appearance. I lamented that there aren't any Fazoli's around here; that would be GREAT! Then my hubby thought of the perfect solution:
OOOoooooh yeeeeah :)

A few nights later we prepared ourselves for this outing. After getting into our compete outfits and seeing the spectacle we would present.. we had a moment of doubt:
However, undaunted, we kept with the plan and headed out to dinner.

To Us! and our Goofy Selves!

The response to our outfits was subtle at best. I did notice, on one occasion, we were conversation stoppers though.. hehe.

And, after noticing that we were taking pictures of each other, a woman stopped by our table and offered to take a picture of us both:She said we were "a feast for the eyes."

Success!

Unbelievable. One nice thing about a big city; anonymity. I'm not too sure I'd try that around here. Too many people that know us. Looks like you had a great time.

You might be able to pull it off at a Fazoli's up in Wausau.. that's far enough away that people *probably* wouldn't recognize you :)
