Ah, February. The shortest month of the year, yet bearing such a heavy "holiday".
There was a time where I absolutely despised Valentines day.. I've been known to wear black some years. And while I still maintain it's the most ridiculous and commercial of all our very commercialized holidays, and disrespectful to all single people alive (as if you are less of a person if there's no one to give you that cliché bunch of red roses and box of chocolates), I've lost much of the bitterness I once held against the silly day. Still, I thought this article was pretty awesome.. while a little more hostile than I myself feel, he sums up the absurdity of Valentines Day quite nicely.
I fully support showing gestures of love, but why put exaggerated emphasis on a single day with requisite gifts and scripted words (chosen by the very venders who are promoting the whole silly thing) when the little, GENUINE gestures mean so much more all the other 364 days of the year?
All that being said, it still makes for a good excuse to make some tasty truffles!

I saw that article yesterday and thot it a good one. Being a guy, I have felt some of the pressure he speaks of. But, be that as it may, your truffels look absolutely yummy! Makes be wish you lived across the back fence instead a state away!
Thanks!! I'd mail you some... but somehow I don't think they'd travel as well as snickerdoodles...
I think the guy is right on target! Andy & I have gradually eliminated this "holiday" without even really being aware of it. We often do something that could be a nod in its direction, but seldom more than that.
I see you found the green coloring. I think that you should post your recipe! Those look like they'd be worth playing around with.
The happy news is that they're super-duper easy.. and they taste like brownies dipped in chocolate. Mmmmmmmmm.
Recipe:
One package of oreos
One (8oz) package of cream cheese
1/2 tsp vanilla (or mint extract)
Smash up oreos. Mix in cream cheese until there is no more visible whiteness. Form into circles, place on wax paper. Chill for 45mins.
Dip in chocolate, let set for 10 or 15. Enjoy :)
Hey Miss Kate :) I'm kinda speechless but hey... :))
Braja - I've rendered you a little speechless... Wow! :) Hopefully it was the beauty of the truffles more than my violent bash of this silly holiday :)
