More Settling...

We sure have come a long way in the last couple centuries; families can live thousands of miles apart and are still able to maintain some semblance of regular contact - moving across the country doesn't mean you'll never see each other ever ever again. Yay!
(Fiddler on the Roof picture from http://www.loriaecker.com/photos-group-2.html)

Sure, we have airplanes, cars and telephones.. But still, distance is rather a bother; it prevents us from actually seeing people we might like to see as often as we might like.

For example, as we are all growing up, my siblings are moving around and getting their own places and decorating them and improving them in fun and exciting ways. Also, The Nephew is getting older, and I wanna see more of them! Plus, there are all sorts of friends scattered across the nation and I often think that it'd be super if we could all spend more time together more frequently. Now, I'm incredibly grateful for our sporadic visits and occasional family reunions, but in the meantime: Thank goodness for digital cameras and blogs and their aid in the visual aspect of virtual visitings :)

So, I live in a city and parking down here is a bother at best; both are significant deterrents to visitors from the North. Add to that all of our busy lives and whirl-windy schedules, plus the aforementioned distance, and the result is that we don't have any of our collective family over very often. Which, most of the time, is completely understandable and perfectly fine. However, I have been having a blast putting my own personal stamp on our newly combined home and feeling even more fully settled in.. Happily, my hubby is wonderfully patient with my particular brand of "stylish" and doesn't mind when I add strange and brightly colored accents to our place, (including, but not limited to, polka-dotted shower curtains- Yay!) but, overall, I feel like it's quite the accomplishment and I am itching to show off the new developments.

So, rather than expect that people travel miles and miles to come to me, I will bring it to you! Behold:

My most recent project: Dressing the Naked Walls

see, very bare.

Deciding how much space the fabulous paintings need

Measuring it out precisely so as to mark up the walls as little as possible

Making sure they'll be straight

Ta da!

I really liked seeing your "here". I've seen the pictures but had wondered how it all fit together. Cool tour!

That was fabulous! Especially the movie. "My Here Brought to Your There." Very clever.
