Again with the Trains

As summer was ending, a couple months ago, we all went for a train adventure and ended up getting a little more excitement than we bargained for. Amid all the craziness from that day, we may or may not have double-bought weekend tickets (apparently Monday holidays don't count as weekends on the app even when the website says it does).

The good news was that our electronic weekend tickets were good through the end of the year. So, when a weekend came that was free (and the weather was cooperating) we decided to try our luck with the commuter trains again.

This time we took a different route. This one had a little longer train ride and ended with a park that *did* have a playground. Win!

It's clearly a destination for other folks having a weekend joy-ride with kids; there were several families with strollers that got off at the same stop.

We brought a little picnic lunch along, but the grass was still pretty wet and muddy from recent rains so, rather than put out our blanket, we ate piecemeal as we played.

There was a little baseball game that had just happened, earlier in the week, (something about 108 years and breaking a curse and whatever) and there were celebrations downtown all weekend long, so the trains were fuller than average. Consequently, the trains were running a smidge behind schedule so we didn't have as much time to play as we might have had, but the boys didn't seem to mind when we had to get back on the train.

Happily, our train story ends better this time around. The going-home train arrived! Yay!! Thus rendering the return trip uneventful - which was actually pretty great.

For fun, for fun! We used to do the same thing with you and your big sister when you were little. Only it was city buses. But you lived it. Who would have thought public transportation could be so entertaining!

I remember riding down Colfax and thinking it was great fun cuz the bus rode on the uneven right lane and it bopped in a fun way. Good times good times.
