These girls are so creative and clever! They had the snacks corresponding with various book titles:
Meatballs with "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs", cookies with "If you Give a Mouse a Cookie", blueberries for "Blueberries for Sal", carrots and celery with "Peter Rabbit"...
... and Swedish fish for "One Fish, Two Fish", and an awesome cupcake caterpillar for "A Very Hungry Caterpillar"
And the banners were made from vintage book pages:
Love it!
Going with a book theme really was perfect. Though I think reading to kids is fun (and important), I'm really not that familiar with children's literature. There are a few titles that I love (like Jamberry, and Teddy Bear Picnic), but I know there are soooooo many more out there that I don't know about.
Having people bring their favorite books turned out to be so great; everyone has a different favorite book; we got no duplicates. And it seemed like most people brought something they remembered fondly from their own childhood or with their own kids, making each gift especially personal and special.
And now, our little one has the beginnings of an awesome library!
Sweet!

Thanks! It was a blast :)
Jamberry! Excellent choice! So read those books and ask that little kid lots of open questions! Looks like it was a fun time!
