In his lifetime, he's seen the Blackhawks play live, the Bulls, and the Sox (which are infinitely preferable to the Cubs) and once, for a school field trip, he visited Soldier Field and got to take a walk out on the field, but he's never seen the Bears play there in person.
In the various seasons that've passed since we've gotten married, I've occasionally looked into getting him a ticket to see a Bears game, but it's never worked out. Sometimes the schedule is wrong (i refuse to go to a game later than October - it gets COLD!!), plus cost has always been a significant deterrent (especially since they're generally sold in bundles of two or more games).
This year I was seriously considering getting him some tickets for his birthday, but the timing was no good (since most of the non-Sunday home games come in mid to late October), so I'd pretty much given up on this season and figured that maybe we'd try again next year (depending on the cooperation of our pending little one).
Then, last week on Facebook, a friend of mine got hold of some tickets and was offering up two extras to the Denver vs. Chicago Preseason Opener AND they we were reasonably priced! Oh baby did I ever leap on them!! I was so excited to go! And, despite it being just a preseason game, my Hubby was looking forward to it too.
As it turned out, the weather didn't exactly cooperate, but we didn't get rained out.. so it was all good. We hung out with my friend and watched the Bears lose, but it was a pretty great experience and I'm so glad we went.
Plus, I got this great night-shot of the city:
Great fun!
