So, my current pet project is fixing up our little deck. First came some flowers, then a sweet sweet little grill, and next in line is a table. But it couldn't be just any table, I have specific specifications for just the right table.
First, it has to be round, not rectangular. Also, it needs to be small - about the size of an end table, but taller; tall enough to be used for eating.
Also, it must be dilapidated. (Half of the fun of this project is the restoration part!) In anticipation of this epic project, I already purchased some glass pieces from the craft store with a gift certificate.. these glass pieces will be used to create a glass mosaic on the table top. Now all that was needed was a table.
I was prepared to make an massive search. I mean, there was a rather specific set of criteria that needed to be met. So, I set aside an afternoon especially for searching out a table. I know of two thrift shops not too far from my place (and another, a little further off, that I could visit if the first two proved fruitless).
However, I struck gold at the first one! (it was almost anticlimactic) After dropping off my box of donations, I strolled over to the furniture section and there, hiding behind a couch, was this tired old table. It was love at first sight: Oval, not rectangular. Broken and stained. And the folding-up feature was an unexpected side bonus!
It is now destined for a second life as my most excellent deck table. I can't wait to begin!

YESSSS! I am so excited for you :)
Thanks!! I'm stoked :)
Awesome! Definitely post pictures of the process you use to put the mosaic on. I have always wanted to do that but just never have.
Can't wait to see the finished project!! :)
I too am very curious about the table's fate. Have you made any progress yet?
Heh.. despite all my free time, I'm still learning to manage it effectively. So it is still on my list of things to do :)
