Map Art Love

I'm a big fan of art made from maps and Chicago-centric art, so when I found an internet list of ideas for simple art with maps I got inspired. However, by the time I got around to making the project the link had gone dead so I can't give anybody credit for the inspiration. Happily, I'd actually read through the instructions and remembered, more or less, how it'd go.

First, get a vintage map and a floating frame, and an outline of whatever state you want to feature:

I used my light-box to trace the state outline on the map:

After the map was cut, I cut out a little heart and it was all ready to assemble:

Once it was all assembled, up on the wall it went!

This one was for Townshend's room. I think it's a great addition! And, if all goes well, maybe I'll pass a little of my Chicago love onto him.

Yay for cool map art! And Illinois is such an interesting shape to do. So much more than any of the western states I would choose for myself. You're so full of cool art ideas!

Hehe... Utah isn't *so* bad, but the cool-state-outline-effect might be lost on Colorado or Wyoming :)

I am excited to come see all the things that you are doing with your house in person! It looks like it is coming together beautifully!

ps the last comment was me too.
Jacob didn't sign out and I didn't notice.
