A Face-Lift

Way back, when I was in high school and college, I used to wear earrings all the time. I never really was into the big "dangly" kind, I much prefered the more subtle, stud earrings. For a long while I wore a mismatched set - one tiny ladybug and one tiny flower, everyday and just left them in for weeks on end.

Perhaps my ears grew tired of the ever-present metal posts, or perhaps (with age) my skin changed and became less tolerant of metals in general but, whatever the reason, one day my ears began reacting poorly to earrings. It got so bad that, several years ago, the discomfort was enough that I just stopped wearing them altogether. I got rid of most of my earrings as well as the earring holder on which I used to display them; just keeping a few, special pairs in my jewelry box.

However, recently, I discovered that, by dipping the posts in petroleum jelly, I'm able to wear earrings again! (Though, still, probably not for weeks on end)  And so I decided it was time to bring out the earrings again and I was super excited when I found this old-school earring holder for a deal. All it needed was a little TLC and it could be awesome!

Enter the wonder that is spray paint.

After smuggling my contraband across the border (since the sale of spray paint is baned within the actual city of Chicago), I was ready to go.

There it is, all settled into its new home. For the last while I've been loving on the color gray (baby room walls, blankets and t-shirt designs) but, this summer, it seems that aqua is my new favorite color (couple new shirts and now this sweet sweet snail!). I love the bright pop it brings to my dresser top!

Cool! I turned allergic just before I got married, and as far as I know, my holes have grown closed. That's pretty cool that you've found a way to wear yours again!
