S'mores Please!

It took me a little while to warm up to cooking on a gas range. I grew up using the electric coils and, frankly, the explosive pop of blue flame when you start up the gas stove made me nervous! But now, it's been over two years since I started cooking with gas and I'm actually coming to really like it!Recently, I learned that you can roast a pepper (perfect for hummus that I love) over a burner. My hubby observed me doing this one day and the logical progression of the conversation lead us to discussing the delightful topic of s'mores.
If it worked to roast a pepper, it would be perfect for marshmallows!
So, for the FHE activity this week, we decided to try out the burner and make us some s'mores! Those blue flames are hot! We tried out different methods.. here's the Burnination method:
I prefer the slower, Browning method. Carefully rotating the marshmallow over the flame, holding out to find the perfect balance between golden brown and ooy-gooy-ready-to-fall-off-the-stick.Perfection!

I, for one, think that's a fine reason to get a new stove!

Gas always made me nervous, too, but I love my gas stove now. :) It looks like I need to try smores soon. Looks like a great FHE treat idea.

I definitely recommend it. The burner has a much more even heat than a fire and so getting the marshmallow to that ooy-gooy perfection is a snap! (as long as it doesn't catch fire..hehe)

Haha! I can totally relate! I was rather reluctant to get a gas stove - they don't heat my pan evenly - but once I had one Dave introduced me to s'mores in the house and I was sold. A few years ago we bought a tent and tried to go camping for the 4th of July but all the campsites were full so we pitched the tent in the living room and had s'mores over the stove and watched American Tale Fifel Goes West (appropriate, no?) from our air mattress inside the tent inside our living room.
