A couple years ago, one of my sisters gave me this sweet, sweet coin bank:
She found it at a little pottery shop near where she lived. Apparently, it originally was supposed to be a Live Hippo Bank.. but, in the process of drying, it got dropped and was suddenly flat on one side. The artist (living by the artistic rule of thumb: There are no mistakes, only creative opportunities) then deemed it a Dead Hippo Bank.
Not only is it dead, but its belly is pretty big and has been collecting coins for quite some time. Recently, I decided that it was full enough (too heavy to lug around), and it was time to cash it in.
87 Quarters
153 Dimes
104 Nickles
377 Pennies - so many!
The cool thing about this machine is that it'll put the amount of the collected coins on a gift card, of your choice, to several different stores. I picked Amazon.
I think the time has come for me to get that CD I've been meaning to get. (We sang these choral arrangements in my college choir and I don't want to forget them.)
Hooray for loose change!

I am so very jealous of your dead hippo bank! The coolest bank ever!
I know right? Hooray for little shops full of creativity :)
Love that hippo! And money, of course.
I still love the hippo!
Hope you enjoy the CD!!
HAHAHA! I'm so glad that you like the dead hippo bank so much. Funny thing is... I didn't remember that it was dead. :D Just awesome. I actually found that at a street fair in Ontario. They have the Lemon Festival every December and I loved doing Christmas shopping there. Sometimes I miss California... but then not so much. :)
A street fair is even better :) So much cool stuff to be found in those.
This was the first time I'd cashed it in.. and the CD is pretty great!
