Zoo Lights! *Rawr*

Even in the winter, it's hard not to love this city. Sure, it's cold... but when everything is enshrouded in a blanket of fresh snow, and the lights are up in the trees, signaling the approach of the Christmas holiday, twinkling cheerily to all the commuters as they head home for the evening... You can hardly help yourself.

Chicago actually does a lot to recognize the different holidays all year round and Christmas is no different. The CTA has a holiday train, downtown there is a Christkindlemarket offering all sorts of beautiful crafts and delightful treats. There are lights up along the streets all over the city and a fully decorated, 90 foot tree downtown. And every year, at the zoo on the north side, there are Zoo Lights.

I've heard lots of good things about the Zoo Lights.. however, despite all my efforts, something always seems to come up and I've never actually made it there to see them. But this year, despite the dryer's best efforts to thwart me, my hubby and I finally made it.

It was quite the impressive display!

We saw lights:

Some ice carvings:

and even a few animals:

It was the first time I've actually been there.. I've never realized where it was exactly; I've driven by a bunch of times without ever noticing! We may have to go back when it's warmer and actually look at the animals :)
