Cuisine and Company

Once upon a time, in the fair suburb just north of Chicago, there once lived a beautiful maiden who went on a social excursion with a charming prince. They were in quest of sustenance and determined that they would be brave and try out this new and unfamiliar place, Tapas Barcelona, and learn the ways of Spanish Tapas. However, these two worthy souls went on this venture unaided by experience and had no knowledge of the ways of Tapas and consequently, after an unfortunately LONG wait, only ordered one Tapas a piece and left the restaurant feeling that, while the company was enchanting, the dinner had been a dud. Luckily this misadventure had no ill effects on their budding relationship and later the two were wed... a wonderful story, but I digress :)

Some time passed, bringing distance and softening the memory of that less than successful venture, and the delightful damsel was again presented with an opportunity to learn of Spanish Tapas. This time around, she was aided by her trusty fellow Skaddenites who knew well the ways of Tapas and so, emboldened by their wise words of counsel, she joined them in a journey to explore the unknown.

Whereas the Skaddenites had previously always remained close to their familiar grounds, on this occasion they elected to venture out a little further. Desiring to make the most of their time together, the fair Skaddenites determined to employ the services of a faithful jitney to spirit them directly to their destination.

Precipitately, they arrived at their journey's end and they entered into the congenial Cafe Imbierco to experience Spanish Tapas.

What had not been known to our delightful damsel before, but was subsequently discovered, was that Tapas is a banquet of sharing; far more an enjoyable adventure when the members order multiple selections and partake of them jointly.
And so it was done.

Our enchanting Skaddenites enjoyed several selections and great was the feast thereof, in cuisine as well as company.

Pincho de Pollo (chicken skewer with caramelized onions and rice)

Croquetas de Pollo (chicken and ham filling with breaded outside)
and Garlic Shrimp

Patatas Bravas (spicy potatoes in a tomato-y sauce)

We also had some Queso de Cabra (goat cheese in a tomato sauce on garlic toast.. mmmmm) but somehow I didn't get a picture of that one.

And, to finish up their fine evening of experimentation, they did savor a sample of the delectable desserts of Spain.

Bizcocho Borracho (tiramisu) and
Filloa de Helado y Crema (ice cream inside a crepe with strawberries and whipped cream)

Flan de Caramelo (Flan with carmel.. ooooh sooooo gooooood)

With their stomachs contented and their desires for fraternization well satisfied, the Skaddenites waved a fond farewell as they parted ways, vowing to hatch a new plan of action soon.

I hope you're keeping track of all these places you Skaddenites go to - next time we're in town I'm hoping to try one of them. You make them looks so interesting.
