Summer Time and the Livin' is Easy

Ah, Chicago in the summer. I must admit: I love this city - the hustle and bustle of millions of people, the long commute, the towers of concrete, even the winters are live-able. But it is the summers in the city that make Chicago love-able. There is always so much going on! There's a Blues Festival, a Gospel Festival, there are parades, and bunches of outdoor events that are always quality entertainment and free! It's pretty fantastic. But there are many festivals all over the country, even parades and outdoor events aren't singular to big cities, you say. Well, what Chicago has, that so many other places do not, are professional baseball teams. Two to be specific. I won't waste your time by commenting on the Cubs, but how 'bout those White Sox?

Alright, admittedly, they're only doing moderately well this year. However, there is just something fabulous about going to a live baseball game, win or lose: the excitement, the lights, the fans (who never fail to be nearly as entertaining as the game itself) not to mention that a baseball stadium is the only place where it is acceptable to eat a hot dog.

Since moving here to Chicago, I've tried to attend at least one game a summer, just as my own personal tradition. Last year I couldn't find anyone to go with, so I didn't end up attending any. However, this year I happen to have a boyfriend who also is a White Sox fan. (just one of many reasons why he is super)

So, one beautiful evening in May, we made the trek to Cellular Field on the rattly red line to attend a night game together. It totally made my summer. And as an added bonus, the Sox actually won: 7-1! Nearly had a no hitter even. It was a very exciting game.

Amazing - my "wee ba" a sports fan. But then I remembered what a big Bronco fan you got to be back the first time they went to the Super Bowl. And I thot, yeah, maybe so. But then again, good company improves a lot of things. Sounds like it was a good time. Cool.

Those are some fun pictures. I'm not sure that I get the whole sports thing, but I'm glad that you had such a good time!
