I, myself am not immune to such impulses. In fact, in my short life, I have learned that when one allows oneself to indulge such impulses, great fun is frequently the result. For example, for Christmas 2007, I got some little rocket kits: a little rocket, reusable tubes, complete with a package of Mentos. All that was lacking is a 2 liter bottle of soda. [insert a mischievous look and rubbing of hands together in anticipation here]
Fast forward four months.
Finally!! In early, April, we had a weekend that was warm enough to go out to the beach and shoot some soda geysers! Wohoo!! So, I gathered a trusty friend; a fellow sufferer of cabin fever. And we went to the store. We got two soda bottles. We collected the kits, and we headed to the beach.
Oh baby oh baby! The excitement was palpable!
We went out to the beach and set up the bottles, with the rockets and the Mentos..
Carefully studying out the very scientific process...
Once we had it all set up: Mentos, rocket, string - we were ready to launch
Ready... Set... AHH!!!!
In the end we had some moderate success. However, having had less than pleasing results the first time around, and having the reusable tubes, we decided we must go out and do it again. This time we were armed with four bottles, greater experience, and determined to have better results than last time.
Success!!
