Learning Goal - Pizza!

Earlier in the school year, Townshend was assigned a "Learning Goal." A project that he got to pick, and then give a presentation on. His teacher offered lots of suggestions for ways to present and some suggestions for how to pick a topic. He decided he wanted to learn how to make pizza, and his idea for presentation was to make a puzzle.

So, back when he got the assignment, we broke down the project into lots of small steps; one little project per week until the big day for presenting. It was about 10 weeks of projects and he's been keeping up with them. We checked out books from the library on pizza, looked through cookbooks to find a recipe he liked.

he was unimpressed with how active yeast smells
Truth be told, with all the excitement with this COVID-19 virus running around, and being in "Shelter in Place" mode for who knows how long, the likelihood of his presenting this project in school is dwindling. However! Education goes on, and so we went ahead with the project.

After all the reading and researching, it was time to get our hands dirty. He picked a recipe that required that he do the kneading (he wasn't interested in using the bread machine) and then we set to work!

Of course, the little guy was ready to help with his "Super [Moon] Muscles!"

Once the dough was ready, it was time to dress it up. Townshend decided he wanted sausage and pepperoni on the pizza. So, we cooked up some Italian sausage and collected all the other trimmings.

He was all in for helping; actually quite focused on helping in all the steps. And, really, did much of the work!

Early on, he'd decided that he wanted to make a smiley face with pepperoni. He was a little disappointed that the sausage peeked through the cheese so much, but decided to go ahead with it all the same. An excellent idea for a creative look; a job well done!

It turned out to be tasty too! Made for a yummy dinner. Everyone enjoyed it.

When he saw me taking pictures, Moon wanted me to snap one of his dinner too. He enjoys his pizza sans toppings. Silly kid.

Next up, go through all the pictures from today's fun and select one to use for the image to be made into the puzzle.
