This year, we met up in Door County at a campground. It was a lovely place that had different levels of "roughing it" so my little branch of the family chose a yurt. It was bigger than I expected and quite nice! Though, the window in the center of the roof was more charming when looking at stars at night than when the sun came in, unhindered, at 5am.
The group of us were able to get a few sites pretty close together, so we didn't have any trouble hanging out. We seemed to naturally gravitate to one, mostly central, site for all the eating and hanging out. During our time there, we shared dinner duty; different teams took different nights, and we ate really well!

There was a park just a little way from our group, and we split our time between chilling at the camp and playing at the playground.
Of course, there was campfire.
And we did some site-seeing too. We visited a cool lighthouse:
And a stop by the rocky shores of Lake Michigan:
Later, we ate at a yummy restaurant that was supposed to have goats on the roof, but it was too hot for the goats. That just means I need to go back sometime to see them.
All in all, though I might wish for kids who slept more and despite camping with a 2 year old being stressful, it was a lovely visit. And while not all of everybody could be there, it was really great to see those who could make it; I'm always left wishing we could have more time together. The good news is that there's talk of future plans to do it again! And my kids will be older then, so win-win!
