Chicago Spring

It's been a funny winter. While it was super cold in December, it's been pretty mild overall. Plus, there's been next to no snow. Also, we spent Christmas out in California visiting family, and I've been surprised at how that (combined with next to no snow here in Chicago) has really affected my perspective on our winter here.

So, when they were calling for snow this week, I admit I was hoping we might get more than just a flurry or a dusting. And we did!

Townshend is a funny kid. The snow on the patio has been calling his name.. he was begging to play outside all yesterday and today. Yet, when we got caught in a sudden flurry of big, wet flakes on the way home from walking around the neighborhood, he was very unhappy about these big, cold and wet flakes falling on him. When he was a baby, the big fluffy snowflakes falling on him would make him really cry, and it looks like, while he doesn't cry anymore, he still is not a fan.

I, on the other hand, was really happy to see this spring storm. I enjoyed our walk home! There's something magical about walking through a storm (when there's only a couple blocks until you're warm and inside).

Still, after quiet time this afternoon, we finally got out the snow clothes and went outside to play. Townshend had a blast! Moon, on the other hand, had to suffer with hand-me-downs that were a size or two too big, so he was *quite* bundled:

Couple the big clothes with the uneven snow, poor kid was falling down all over. Good thing he doesn't actually mind that too much. And, by the time we came in for dinner, he was really getting quite steady on his feet.. for the most part.

Yep. I'm very glad that we got this snow, now I feel like we've had a proper winter (or Chicago spring). Yay snow!

Too big or not, that picture of Moon all bundled and ready to go out is SOOOOO cute - I love it! Glad winter made it to your house!
