Plant a Garden!

Even though, just two weeks ago, it looked like this out our back door:

In true Chicago-style, the weather has had a sudden turn and it seems that Spring may actually be here to stay! Time to think about planting things again!

This year, since my planters are already up and installed, I decided that it might be fun to attempt to grow some plants from seed; for this year I went with sugar snap peas and carrots (we'll see how much luck we have with that).  I don't have a great track record, but should these seeds make it to harvest, those are crops I wouldn't mind sampling!

Turns out, both peas and carrots have long germination times and should be planted early. So, while it'll be another month before I attempt much else in my garden, last weekend we put in our seeds and now we will wait to see what happens!

Here's hoping for some yummy produce in the fall!

Yay!!! We put some pea seeds in the other day too, as well as some onions. And dug out a mess of strawberries; they're taking over the world!! Here's to hoping that we all do well with our gardening efforts!

Watch the weather and cover them if it's going to be cold. You'll be eating homegrown peas this fall for sure!
