Birthday Time!

Well, little Townshend keeps on growing! He's a whopping 3yrs old now. It's taken a little convincing to get him to own being three. For a while, leading up to his birthday, we'd remind him that his birthday was coming and that he'd be three, and he'd say, "No, I'll just be two and a half."

Then, the night before, Hubby and I hung up a bunch of balloons and in the morning, he came downstairs, saw the balloons and said, "Balloons! Now I can be THREE!"

Another exciting thing, a first for our Townshend, was he actually ate some of his birthday cake!

At 1 year, he touched his cake with one finger, but that was about it (even breaking it into smaller bits couldn't entice him further):

Last year, he was still seemed somewhat suspicious (this cake went completely untouched):

But this year, we had true contact:

After about two bites, the presents got more exciting than cake (even though he was very excited to discover that frosting was, indeed, tasty), which is probably not a bad way to be.

Oh yes. A very happy kid, indeed :)
I admit, it warms my heart especially much that he's loving on the Gerald and Piggie books so much; I think we've read this new one at least twice or three times a day so far :)

What a sweet heart. It still amazes me that it has taken him this long to eat some birthday cake. That picture of him looking at his cake at two just slays me.
