While I do enjoy decorating homes (painting and other cosmetic fixes), I'm not much of a fixer-upper sort of gal. Knocking down walls, putting up drywall... not for me. Electricity scares me waaay to much to ever delve into it, and plumbing always seemed too crucial for me to dabble in, even lightly. But, this week, I stepped out of my comfort zone.
So, to explain all the bathroom stuff, Hubby and I have decided to go with cloth diapers. (Well, more a cloth/disposable hybrid system: at home it's cloth diapers but anywhere we travel, for more than just an hour or two, we use disposables.) There are several reasons that people throw around for using cloth over the disposables: they're better for the environment; they're chemical-free so better for babies' bums.. those are all nice reasons and do factor in with our going this route, but my favorite reason is: they're a one-time purchase.

It's kind of funny really, growing up, my folks did cloth diapers for a while and, as an occasional babysitter and diaper-changer, I haaaaaaated it; so much mess and grossness. However, these cloth diapers are not my mother's cloth diapers. The plastic covers are much improved, and they have these little inserts that catch much of the physical nasties that diapers collect.. but what tipped the scales so that I might actually consider going the cloth diaper route was the fabulous diaper sprayers. With that, I was sold.

However, now that we have a kid and have a cause to use the sprayer, turns out that the thing leaks like craaaaaazy. Not just a little drip, no no; sprays all over the whole side of the bathroom. No bueno.
So, we got a new one. Today I installed it. It works!!

Hooray for my first venture into the scary field of plumbing being a success!

Yay!! That's pretty cool that you've got it all taken care of by yourself. Still wish that I dared get one, but I think that it wouldn't have to be broken to spray all over the bathroom!
Oh how a gadget like that would have been welcome in our house back in the day. Rinsing out poopy diapers was sooooooooo gross. Thank heavens for technological advances. I bet it was invented by a woman.
