A while ago, I read this post about how making bread is easy! and further conversation with the author convinced me that I should consider giving bread another go.
Then, this past weekend, my Hubby and I met up with a friend down in the suburbs to go apple picking. We did some research and found an orchard that advertised their selection of fruit (peaches, apples, raspberries, strawberries and veggies) and we were all stoked!
The weather was perfect, we had great driving tunes and we all approached the orchard with great hopes, anticipating the tasty tasty apple pies we would all make when we went back to our homes. Also, I was going to pick up some apple butter (which would go perfectly with some freshly baked homemade bread)..
And when we got there, we discovered that the apple trees had all been picked over (as had the strawberries) and so all that was left were a couple rows of peach trees with mostly ripe fruit...
But, it wasn't a total bust. We found a little friend and learned a lot about bees (the orchard owners had a big exhibit hive and sell all their own honey). And they did have apples for sell inside their little store (along with some tasty tasty apple butter), so we still left with apples, apple butter and a few peaches too!
So, today, I attempted to give homemade bread another go. My yeast actually was active and the dough came together nicely, however, I think I've got to work on my pan-loading technique..
So, while it really isn't too tough making bread that is tasty, it does take a little to make the bread pretty.. But apple butter makes everything AWESOME!
