Camo tree

Now that it's November, I thought I probably should try talking about something besides Halloween.

Fall is clearly upon us here in Chicago. This morning, the sky is threatening us with precipitation, and it's as likely to be snow as it is to be rain. While I know NephewI is waiting for snow with great anticipation, I would be ok if it held off for a little while longer. However, I know that the Autumn Mix brings the lovely and the less-so.

Here's a taste of the lovely:

This picture may not do it justice, but this tree has beautifully colored leaves. I love that I live on a street with trees with changing leaves. But what's even more interesting than that, is the bark seems to be changing too.. It caught my eye because it seemed to have camouflage bark. That's a cool effect!

Anyone have any idea what kind of tree has camouflage bark?

I'm pretty sure it's a sycamore. It generally sheds it's bark and it's white underneath.

They're one of the prettiest trees, but one of my least favorites to clean up after since they have large leaves that clog gutters and drains, plus they shed bark too.

So I love it when my neighbors have them, but I may avoid them in my yard. :)

Oh interesting! I'd never thought of that. Something to look out for, for sure!
